Roger Riley

Noticeable colour improvement. Summer Forces uniform, Coleman Avenue, Ottawa. Approx 1965. Click for larger picture (228K).

This picture is an original hand-tinted portrait. It is on heavy photo stock in a wonderful old frame with wings along the top and RCAF stamped on the bottom. Roger is what... 15, 16?

Must be a University of Toronto party. Could we be any more dapper and sophisticated? I am working on a full restoration, but it is quite a job considering how many wrinkles are in the original paper. There is a name: “Fred Langstaff”, I think, followed by “Ferranti”. And also an address: “7 Thornwood”, and a phone number: “Geoff, 2-6751”.

The original scan, so you can see the restoration progress... it is a 3 x 5” image.

Looks like the original Certificate of Birth. I added some contrast so it is a bit more legible; orange is the result, not the original colour!
